With over a decade of experience in the field of psychology, Mel Ricketts offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy, Mel is committed to helping clients navigate their mental health challenges.
I established my practice to provide a down-to-earth, deeply effective space for people navigating the full spectrum of emotional difficulties. With seven years of clinical NHS experience within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and a background in Victim Support, my frontline experience spans from helping individuals manage everyday anxiety, stress, and depression, to delivering high-intensity, specialised protocols for Trauma and OCD.
While I support clients across all areas of mental health and self-esteem, my deepest professional passion lies in treating complex trauma and obsessive-compulsive loops. My approach combines advanced postgraduate credentials with a warm, partnership-led style. We won't just analyse your distress; we will actively map the cycles keeping you trapped, whether that’s a cycle of low mood or an intense trauma trigger, and build the practical tools you need to break free.
As I currently hold a clinical role within the local NHS Trust, I maintain strict professional boundaries regarding conflict of interest. During our initial consultation, we will briefly verify your GP location to ensure I can provide you with private support.
I am a highly qualified clinician, having completed the 'Gold Standard' training required for BABCP Accreditation (currently in the formal process of finalising my accreditation). My academic background includes a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Counselling, a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT, and a Post Graduate Diploma in High Intensity CBT.
