Yes, Mel Ricketts Psychology is a LGBTQIA+ friendly practice. We provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
I currently offer Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings only, however, I am happy to discuss possible weekend sessions. Please contact me to schedule an appointment.
At Mel Ricketts Psychology, I take your privacy seriously. All information shared in therapy sessions is confidential and will not be shared with anyone without your explicit consent. See here for the full details.
CBT is designed to be short-to-medium term. Most people find that 12-20 sessions are effective, but this varies. We will review your progress every 6 sessions to ensure the therapy is still meeting your needs.
I am currently an online-only practice. This allows you or your child to engage from a safe, familiar environment, which is often much more effective for neurodivergent individuals who might find the sensory cost of traveling to a clinic overwhelming.
That’s exactly what the free 15-minute discovery call is for! We can chat about your goals and I’ll give you an honest professional opinion on whether CBT is the best fit or if another approach might serve you better.
For younger children, having a parent present can help them feel safe. For teenagers, I usually work 1:1 to build a sense of independence and privacy. However, we will decide this together based on what makes your child feel most comfortable.
I get it! Therapy doesn't have to be a 50-minute intense conversation. We use digital whiteboards, drawing, fidgets, and games to externalise problems. If your child prefers cameras-off or communicating via the chat box, we adapt to them.
Yes. Drawing on my years in NHS CAMHS, I can provide professional clinical summaries or attend online meetings to advocate for the neuro-affirming adjustments your child needs at school. (Please see my Fees page for professional liaison rates).
I operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. This allows me to offer the slot to someone else on my waiting list. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full rate. See here for full details.
Absolutely. I am ICO registered and use a specialist, medical-grade clinical record system (Halaxy) to ensure all your information is encrypted and secure. See here for Privacy details.
Yes, I offer a discount for Blue Light card holders and full-time students with a valid ID/card.
I also have a limited number of sessions for low-income families.
